The Summer trail is clear of snow to the top of Ptarmigan and the top of Black Bear. The Lower Nordic Trail is clear of snow all the way to Fish Creek. Summer has arrived on the mountain!

Porcupine Lodge office hours this summer are Monday through Wednesday from 10am-2pm. Come by or call the ticket window at (907) 790-2000 x214.

Just a reminder that Alaska Zipline Adventures has moved into the Porcupine Lodge and all facilities are now closed to the public for the summer.

Hikers and bikers are urged to bring plenty of water. A public toilet is available in the lower parking lot. There are also public toilets available at the Eagle's Nest at the top of the mountain.

Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month Programs 2016-2017



Learn to Ski/Board (ages 7-adult)  - $54

For 1st & 2nd time skiers/snowboarders

  • 2-hour lesson & rental
  • Includes free Porcupine Lift ticket
  • Lessons offered 10am – noon or 1pm – 3pm


Mid-Week Learn to Ski/Board (ages 7-adult) - $44

For 1st & 2nd time skiers and snowboarders

  • 2-hour lesson & rental
  • Includes free Porcupine Lift ticket
  • Lessons offered 10am – noon or 1pm – 3pm
  • Only available Monday. Thursday , & Fridays in January


Triple Play Learners Pack (ages 7-adult) - $119

For 1st & 2nd time skiers and snowboarders

  • 3 days of two hour lessons, rental, free lower mountain lift tickets
  • May purchase a 2016-2017 season pass at a discounted rate after successful completion of all three lessons


Parents First Tracks (adults) - $99

For 1st & 2nd time skiers/snowboarders or those looking to get back into skiing/riding. Designed for parents of wee skiers and little rippers.

  • 3 week program includes lesson, lower mtn lift ticket, rental
  • Session #1: Saturday, January 14, 21, 28 10:30am – 12pm
  • Session #1: Sunday , January 15, 22, 29 10:30am-12pm


Intro to Classic Skiing (adults) - $54

2-hour group lesson, trail fee, & equipment rental. Price includes trail fee.

  • Session #1 Dec. 24 10-noon or 1-3pm
  • Session #2 Dec. 31 10-noon or 1-3pm
  • Session #3 Jan. 7 10-noon or 1-3pm
  • Session #3 Jan. 8 10-noon or 1-3pm


Learn to Nordic Series (adults) - $69

3 week program, choose classic or skate. Classic rental for series $30, skate rental not available.

  • Session #1 starting Jan. 14 or 15, 10am-noon
  • Price includes trail fee

About Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month

The Learn to Ski and Snowboard initiative encourages children and adults to learn by taking lessons from professional instructors. Eaglecrest has many special deals that give beginners affordable access to equipment and instruction.

The Eaglecrest Snowsports School is a team of professionals who are dedicated to creating a fun and exciting learning experience. We are members of the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI). Eaglecrest is one of over 300 ski areas across the country who participate in Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month to get outside and enjoy winter!
